Plagiarism Policy
The Journal of AI & Immersive Marketing (JAIIM) enforces a strict policy against all forms of plagiarism and academic misconduct. In line with the ethical standards set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), JAIIM is committed to preserving the integrity of scholarly publishing by actively screening all submissions for originality and transparency.
Plagiarism Screening
All submitted manuscripts are subjected to mandatory similarity checks using advanced plagiarism detection tools such as Turnitin or iThenticate. Any manuscript with a similarity index above 25% including cases of self-plagiarism or insufficient citation may be automatically rejected or returned to the author for clarification and revision.
Forms of Unacceptable Plagiarism
JAIIM defines and prohibits the following practices:
- Direct plagiarism: Copying text verbatim from any source without quotation marks or proper attribution.
- Self-plagiarism: Republishing one’s own previously published work, in whole or in part, without appropriate citation or acknowledgment.
- Mosaic plagiarism: Rearranging phrases or lightly modifying text from a source while maintaining its original meaning, without proper citation.
- Data fabrication or falsification: Manipulating data, charts, images, or results to misrepresent findings or mislead readers.
- Undisclosed AI-generated content: Submitting manuscripts or sections thereof that are generated using artificial intelligence tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini) without clear disclosure and without substantive author input, critical review, or authorship accountability.
Editorial Action on Misconduct
In the event that plagiarism or ethical breaches are identified during submission, peer review, or after publication, JAIIM may take one or more of the following actions:
- Immediate rejection of the manuscript
- Request for author clarification or revision
- Retraction of a published article
- Notification to the authors’ affiliated institutions, funders, or professional bodies (when appropriate)
Responsibilities of Authors
Authors are expected to uphold high standards of academic honesty and:
- Properly cite all sources and ideas using APA 7th edition referencing style
- Accurately paraphrase and quote from sources with appropriate attribution
- Submit only original work that has not been published or submitted elsewhere
- Transparently disclose the use of any AI tools and specify their role in the manuscript preparation
